The poverty-stricken village of Masakhane demonstrates the negligence of governance in the fight against poverty.
“All hope is not lost, if the community wants to see a change in their communities, they must choose wisely and ignore empty promises.”
Masakhane Food Relief - 27 Jan 2023
Tau Project together with UAT went to Masakhane village, Radium in the Bela-Bela local municipality to donate food parcels to the community. As is the case of any South African rural setting, the area is beset by unemployment and poverty is visibly on the faces of the people you meet in the streets.
The UAT leadership encouraged the community members that hope is not lost, if the community wants to see a change in their communities, they must choose wisely and hold the leadership accountable.
200 Food parcels were donated and the community members displayed their deep gratitude in their thank-you speeches. Some of the community members mentioned they had no food in their homes and their children were walking long distances to school as the bus service has been halted.
